Next, we’ll descend into Ouarzazate before crossing the gorges to reach Agdz, where the palm groves of the Draa Valley, the longest river valley in Morocco, line the landscape. As we continue, the lush greenery will give way to the unique volcanic rock formations of the Sahro mountains, leading us toward the desert.
As evening approaches, we’ll arrive at our luxurious desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and fresh dates or nuts. After leaving the desert, you’ll travel up into the Atlas Mountains to visit the stunning Todra Gorge, a dramatic cleft in the hills near Tinerhir. This area is filled with abandoned kasbahs, palm groves, and mud-brick villages, making it a dream for photographers. As you approach the gorge, towering cliffs rise above, reaching heights of 300 meters. The golden hues of the rock face shift beautifully with the sunlight throughout the day. You may spot local Berber people guiding their herds through the gorge.
As you explore, you’ll have the opportunity to stretch your legs with a walk to fully take in the breathtaking scenery. Afterward, you’ll return to the vehicle and retrace your route out of the gorge, continuing toward Ouarzazate. From there, you’ll cross the Atlas Mountains again on your way back to Marrakech, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
